Biliousness & Dancin' Jumpsuit

Couple of drawings for you. I wish my comics looked as good as my single unplanned illustrations, maybe I need to draw them bigger.

Wanderer of the wastes

I have been playing way too much Fallout: New Vegas hence this picture of my character being chased by a fearsome molerat. Done in Manga studio and Photoshop.

Also I have changed the look of the blog so I can post images without using thumbnails. Tell me if it looks ok on your monitors.

Eat your heart out

Tried to do this comic nice and quick but it still took me a couple of days, mainly because of procrastination.

Also im on twitter now if you're bothered.

Mr Anxiety Vs Life

A sad king for you. Done in ink and watercolours.

Done with inks. Also 100 posts wheeee!

Saturday, 20 November 2010

Clickin yer' heels and Stampy

A couple of doodly drawings. The first done in Manga Studio and Photoshop, the second with a dip pen.

Monday, 15 November 2010

Robot Rider

Soon we shall all be slaves to the machine! Or something.

Saturday, 13 November 2010

Leaf Tornadoes

Little comic done in ink.

Ink and watercolours.

Duck Rider

Quick drawing I coloured with water colours. What is the difference between ink and watercolours? I don't really know.

Remake/Remodel: Jeff Hawke

Havent done one of these for a while, check the whitechapel thread for some lovely stuff.

Did this in Manga Studio for lines and Photoshop for colour. I like the result but it took me ages and I miss some of the rough edges and texture you get when doing it by hand.

Cartoon class comics

I have just finished a short course on Cartooning! It covered a lot of stuff I already knew but I enjoyed it anyway and I learned a few things.

The brief here was a cartoon about your reaction to being given an artistic assignment.
That sinking feeling:

This one was about addiction, being an Englishman I naturally chose:

The Perils of In-ear Headphones

Sadly this is all completely true.

It's Raining

This one comes from my real sketchbook which is filled with scribbles and doodles, I liked this one though. Ink colours over pencils.

Friday, 22 October 2010

Under the Paracetamol Moon

A little ink painting tribute to my current cold which has lasted for about two weeks now.

I think I over did it a bit with the psychedelic background but its garishness does reflect how I'm feeling.

Idle thoughts of self annihilation

Quick little autobiographical comic, I wanted to do it all in one day but I felt too ill and tired to bother inking it last night. One of these days I'll reach that fabled page-a-day goal.

Tuesday, 12 October 2010

Quincy eating a sandwich

Ahh Quincy! Takes me back to the days when I used to watch the repeats on TV in the daytime, bad times.

Not that good a likeness to Quincy but I got round it with my clever title.

Doing some digital drawing

Using the pen tool in Manga Studio ex, which is great for digital inking. Coloured in photoshop. Sometimes I like the nice and sharp look you can get with a computer, but I don't think it will replace the dip pen and inks in my affections.

Looking in the puddle and Yellow Quiff Chappy

Done with a brush pen and coloured in photoshop:

Inky doodle I did with a brush:

Thursday, 23 September 2010

The Window Cat

Woo! I haven't updated for a while but atleast I've finally done another comic. This one has been brewing in my head for ages.

Done by hand with ink and neatened up a little bit in photoshop.

Friday, 3 September 2010

Put your dukes up

Little painting done in gouache and ink. I did the glowing hands with wet paper and blue ink first, then the rest was gouache.

I like using ink and wet paper, you get some really cool effects.

Old man's demons

Gouache on blue paper. Haven't really got the hang of using gouache, but this came out sort of ok.

Saturday, 21 August 2010

Wrong way comic.

A one panel comic in ink.

A portrait of A. Biscuit

I haven't really revealed much about myself on this blog so I thought I would explain A. Biscuit with this fact based illustration:

Thursday, 12 August 2010

Saviour

The figures done in ink the background mainly done in photoshop. Probably better if I had done it all in ink but this sort of works. Also should have done more buildings but I was too lazy.

Tuesday, 10 August 2010

Nib Comic

A quick comic I did to practice with the new nibs I got. Did most of the drawing with a Hunt 100 which is very flexible but also quite hard to control as you can probably tell from the wobbly lines.

Monday, 2 August 2010

Big Ole Blob

Scanned in a little pencil sketch, made it bigger and then painted it with Gouache. Got a little box of Gouache colours a few weeks ago and this has been my most successful attempt at using them so far.

Wednesday, 28 July 2010

Tree Drinker

Ink drawing. This was originally A4 sized which is quite rare for me, since I still draw stupidly tiny.

Wednesday, 21 July 2010

Ideasman

I just wanted to draw a man with a lightbulb for a head.

Monday, 19 July 2010

Oh Hullo

Quick postcard sized ink drawing I did.

Monday, 12 July 2010

Unconvinced

A little picture I did in ink. It needs a caption or something but I can't think of one.

Friday, 2 July 2010

Dream of the Rarebit Fiend Comic

A Rarebit Fiend comic based on a half remembered dream I had years ago.

Thursday, 24 June 2010

Monkey eating a sandwich

Not just any monkey, The King Monkey!

Used an ink wash on stretched paper, it got a little bit streaky since my biggest brush is a bit small for washes. Had to use white "ink" on the cloud which sort of worked.

Tuesday, 15 June 2010

Remake/Remodel: Blast issue 3

Another remake/remodel some good stuff in the whitechapel thread.

Monday, 7 June 2010

Wave Paddler

A little postcard sized ink painting I did to practice with my brush. It got a little bit creased.

Friday, 4 June 2010

A birthday card

A card I made for my sister based on her obsession with farming and fighting game Rune Factory Frontier.

Friday, 28 May 2010

A few drawings

Some recent inked drawings. The last two I used a brush for the lines which was pretty tricky but I think I managed it without making hugely obvious mistakes. I also think I'm getting the hang of colouring with inks.

The second picture wasn't intended to resemble a bloaty faced Morrissey it just came out that way.

New header

Thought it was time to update my header as my old one was a bit rubbish and had a picture of a lungfish for no reason.

Here's the old one if you want to compare:

Sunday, 16 May 2010

Jesus eating a sandwich

I'm pretty sure this was in the Bible.

Sunday, 9 May 2010

Mug Comic

I finally did another comic! Done in ink and neatened in photoshop. The colours would be cleaner and neater if I did them digitally but I kind of like the paper texture and different look you get with inks.

Wednesday, 5 May 2010

Marvelman eating a sandwich

Or Miracleman if you prefer. Lines and Kirby Crackle done in ink, coloured in photoshop.

Kimota!
